Japanese firm TGMY has scored a notable performance record with one of its custom-made electric vehicles. The company tested one of its vehicles on a track, clocking up 587km on a single charge. The vehicle ran at a constant speed of 55km/h and achieved this distance in ambient temperatures of 11-22°C. The car was one of TGMY’s Mitsuhoka Himiko models, which is based on 5398 Mazda’s MX5 roadster. For the test the car was driven by a 59kW motor delivering 280Nm of torque and was powered by a 62kWh lithium polymer battery. Following this success the car has been named the 550 REVolution, as it is able to complete the 500km distance between the cities of Tokyo and Osaka on a single charge.
