The company says that the empirical testing of asphalt adapted until now is “no longer sufficient to support the leap in quality of paving over time due to the continual increase of road traffic in terms of frequency, weight, and load time.”

Its research and development department acknowledged the new requirements as long ago as 1987.

“A vast range of testing apparatus for asphalt and bituminous mixtures has been considerably increased with the adoption of the [US] Superpave testing methods and subsequent ASTM, AASHTO, EN Standards and a key role is played by the dynamic technologies,” says Controls.

New at Intermat is the Dynapave 78-B7030, servo-pneumatic dynamic testing system with a 30kN capacity to perform indirect tensile stiffness, creep, fatigue, triaxial on unbound materials and tests under load or displacement control. It joins the company’s PILOT 4 automatic compression tester for concrete; Gyrocomp gyratory compactor for bituminous mixes and the 48-D5262 accelerated polishing machine for polished stone value.

According to Controls, the Dynapave system performs load or displacement controlled tests with programmable wave shape over frequencies up to 70Hz, simulating the traffic effect.
“The user-friendly interface allows the operator to monitor the test performance and to evaluate results,” says the company.

The Power Curber 5700-C series has been engineered and designed to provide customers with an easy-to-operate, reliable and productive machine, which the company claims is the number one seller. The 5700-C is compact, providing the operator with an excellent view of the concrete as it exits the mould and any activity around the machine. A direct drive high torque auger conveyor is preferred to a conveyor belt, providing faster movement of concrete regardless of the incline of the conveyor.

Indeco has completed its range of ISS shears, which now numbers five models. They have been designed for cutting ferrous metals such as I-beams, tanks and tubing in the scrap metal and recycling sectors as well as demolition field. Features include four heat-treated blades for optimised long-time performance. At the same time, they are reversible and interchangeable so that all cutting edges can be used. Deep jaws and long blades allow for maximum depth of cut. They are also equipped with a cutting register

Unveiled as a prototype at SAIE, Italy in October 2010, the compact 340AJ boom lift can cope with grades and break-over angles up to 45° allowing it to drive on slopes and up ramps. Built to a working height of 12.35metres and with a horizontal outreach of 6.07metres, the 340AJ is said by JLG to meet demands for a broad range of applications. The jib extends to 1.2metres with near vertical operation. When ground conditions get tough, proper off-road performance is ensured by the standard oscillating axle an
