The UK 1360 Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) has produced a DVD entitled ‘Maintaining the Nation’s Roads’ which gives an introduction to asphalt road construction and highlights the need for ongoing road maintenance.

The ten-minute film is designed as an information and training tool for anyone with an interest in roads, from highway engineers through to schools and colleges. It covers a variety of topics under three main headings: How Roads Are Made; The Benefits of Asphalt, and Sustainability.

“The DVD highlights the many benefits of asphalt as well as emphasising the importance of planned, preventative maintenance to ensure the local road network is well maintained in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way,” says the AIA’s David Weeks. “It will be useful to local authorities and in particular to those involved in roads and their maintenance. It will also be helpful for informing those who influence local authority budget decisions, such as elected members.”

The DVD is viewable in sections from the AIA website at www.asphaltindustryalliance.com.
