Debt issues for Spanish toll road

Financial issues are now impacting heavily on Spain's Radial 4 (R-4) highway. The companies involved, Autopista Madrid Sur Concesionaria Espanola and Inversiones de Autopistas del Sur, are facing high levels of corporate debt.

Financial issues are now impacting heavily on Spain's Radial 4 (R-4) highway. The companies involved, Autopista Madrid Sur Concesionaria Espanola and Inversiones de Autopistas del Sur, are facing high levels of corporate debt. However traffic volumes have been lower than expected, while the cost of the project has been high.

This shows 225 people have died in traffic crashes in Spain during the summer months of 2015, which is 2% more than in the same period of 2014. But figures for the first eight months of the year, however, show a 2% decrease in fatalities, which have totalled 727.

    European construction sales grew by 15% in 2017, according to the Annual Economic Report 2018* from the CECE After a strong first quarter, growth slowed in Q2, before rising in Q3 and Q4, according to the CECE - Committee for European Construction Equipment. Current levels of sales are on par with the levels seen in 2006 and 2008, but the industry is still 20% below the 2007 peak.
