Cummins puts over 29,828kW on display

Cummins said that Conexpo 2014 represents the biggest ever presence by the company at a construction equipment show, with over 29,828kW installed in more than 180 machines at the show. Its Tier 4 line-up on show extends from some of the smallest – the 55kW QSF2.8 installed in a carry crane from Manitex – up to the most powerful Tier 4i kit, that of a 738kW cold milling machine from Wirtgen which uses a twin-engine installation comprising QSL9 and QSX15 engines.

Cummins engines are on display in over 180 machine at Conexpo
196 Cummins said that Conexpo 2014 represents the biggest ever presence by the company at a construction equipment show, with over 29,828kW installed in more than 180 machines at the show.

Its Tier 4 line-up on show extends from some of the smallest – the 55kW QSF2.8 installed in a carry crane from Manitex – up to the most powerful Tier 4i kit, that of a 738kW cold milling machine from 2395 Wirtgen which uses a twin-engine installation comprising QSL9 and QSX15 engines.

Conexpo revealed the first installed appearance of the latest QSG12 heavy-duty engine. Installed in a crawler crane, the Tier 4 Final compliant engine achieves a 380kW output.

Cummins’ QSG12 does not use cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to meet Tier 4 Final emissions, so its cooling requirements remain similar to those of a Tier 3 engine. The engine is also said to be 300-400kg lighter than other engines in its class from the use of composite materials and a sculpted block.

Major developments in soil compaction are being introduced - Mike Woof writes. With manufacturers keen to meet new regulations and deliver greater performance to customers, an array of new soil compactors are now coming to market. One of the new developments from the Ammann Group is the unveiling of its ASC 110 Tier 3 soil compactor, which is powered by a Cummins QSG 4.5 diesel rated at 119kW and has a 2.13m-wide drum. This machine is designed to meet the needs of emergent markets where high quality fuels w

    January 6, 2017
Bobcat’s M Series mini excavators have moved to the Tier 4 emissions standard without the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The E42, E45, E50 and E55 mid-size mini excavators use an ultra-low particulate combustion process engine, which in the two heavier models offers up to 12% more torque than previous models of a similar size. The excavators feature a cold weather protection system that recognises when engine temperatures are low and limits the maximum output to prevent premature component fail
