The construction costs of the new Mafraq-Ghweifat in Abu Dhabi have been thrown into the spotlight. The Abu Dhabi Government is discussing the issue with the consortium that is leading the running to build the link, a partnership headed up by Austrian contractor 945 Strabag. The Abu Dhabi Government is keen to reduce the cost of the project, with bids currently standing at around US$2.72 billion.

    Croatia’s public procurement body has rejected complaints by all three international consortia over a winning low tender for the Peljeski bridge.     A joint venture between India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and UAE-based Delma Engineering (Delma) has reportedly emerged as the best bidder for a US$273.71 million (INR 15bn) road project in the Emirates. Indian daily newspaper The Economic Times says the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport-led project involves widening the Mafraq to Al Ghweifat highway. It will be built over a period of 30 months.
