Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
Preparation work is underway in Vietnamese city Da Nang for the planned Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway. The 140km road will link the provinces of Quang Ngai and Quang Nam and site clearance work worth around US$48 million in compensation is being carried out at present. Construction of the expressway itself will commence in mid-2013 and the new road will cut journey times from three hours along the existing route to just two hours.
Road construction projects worth around US$335 million (ETB 6.5 billion) combined have been awarded by the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) to three Chinese companies, as part of the fourth Road Sector Development Programme.

Plans are moving ahead in Bangladesh for a series of new elevated expressways that will be constructed in capital Dhaka. Chinese contractor China Railway Construction Corporation and Ital-Thai Development Corporation have signed an agreement that will see the two firms working jointly on the expressway project. A budget of US$172.55 million has been set for the work.
