Construction starts on Yichang section of China’s Yichang-Yueyang expressway
Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).

Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
At the end of 2008 and the start of 2009, the world's banking system spiralled into crisis, triggered by a series of catastrophic blunders caused by bankers trying to create money from nothing. The result was to plunge the world's economy rapidly into recession. Having proved in effect that lead cannot be turned into gold, the bankers retired on fat pensions leaving governments to pledge huge sums to the banks and fill in the financial gaps.
China is planning to improve the quality of fuel sold in the country, a key issue that will help cut pollution. The aim is to speed up the process of implementing new fuel standards. Seven government departments are now working on the plan, which has been placed as part of the high priority political drive to cut pollution in the country. The plan states that China is working on a new national standard for its fuels; National VI. This will be issued at the end of 2016 and implemented in 2019.
Contractor STRABAG will construct an additional section of road tunnel for Stockholm’s new bypass project. The contract is worth around €45 million and involves building two parallel bores with a total length of 2.5km for the Akalla tunnel section. The Stockholm bypass runs around the Swedish capital and is currently the largest road construction and tunnelling project in the country. The parallel tunnel bores will both be around 1.23km long and will be driven using conventional drilling and blasting
