Construction starts on Yichang section of China’s Yichang-Yueyang expressway
Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).

Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
Russia's state highways agency AVTODOR has invited bids for construction of another section of the Moscow to St. Petersburg toll motorway.
Starting cost of the bid to build the section from kilometre 58-149 is nearly US$1.2 billion. Investors will have to put up front 20% of the accepted bid cost to build the 91km section.
Construction of the 700km motorway is being let in sections, with highly competitive bids coming from the major international players in highways infrastructure.

The Nigerian government has completed a project costing US$796.71 million (NGN 126bn) to restore 32 roads covering a combined 2,000kms. The federal government will also upgrade nine railway stations across the country on public private partnerships (PPPs). Mike Onolememen, the Minister of Works in Nigeria, is reported by African media to have told the recent 2013 Ministerial Platform in Abuja, Nigeria that the extensive improvements meant that the country’s roads can no longer be described as “death traps”.
A number of tower cranes have helped complete the Chishi Grand Bridge project in China Six Potain tower cranes were used to build two 280m tall bridge pylons, high in the clouds above the mountains of southern China. The cranes spent 30 months building the pylons at the Chishi Grand Bridge, which will span 1.47km and carry its road deck 180m above the ground. The bridge will open at the end of 2014.
