Construction starts on Yichang section of China’s Yichang-Yueyang expressway

Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
The China Communications Construction Company is to take part in the second and third construction phases of Tehran’s north highway project.
A memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year marks the first time a Chinese contractor has worked in Iran.
The second section covers around 23km and includes a 6.5km tunnel and a 16.5km highway. The third section spans about 45km, of which 38km will be through tunnels.
Total cost is around US$2 billion, with the second section costing $500 million.
China is offering an interest-free US$130 million loan to Pakistan for construction of the Gwadar East Bay Expressway in the southwest port of Gwadar.
The proposed 19km expressway will connect the Gwadar Port with the Mekran Coastal Highway, passing along the east bay of Gwadar City.
The loan is part of a wider financing deal whereby China has a converted $225.5 million loan for the Gwadar International Airport into a loan.

The government of Hunan Province, China plans to create more than 1,000kms of extra highway in the province as part of a US$27.32 billion (CNY 170bn) investment in 176 mostly infrastructure projects in 2013. The huge highway infrastructure expansion, which will see the construction of 37 new highways, will increase the 3,969km of province highway as of 2012 by more than 25%. Of the 37 highways, works on 14 of them are targeted to be wrapped up in 2013.
