Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
Momentum is gathering for the construction of a new elevated expressway in the city of Yangon in Myanmar. The project is expected to cost US$400 million ad the expressway will measure 27km-long. The new route will provide an improved road connection for Yangon International Airport to the city’s industrial area, Yangon Jetty and the Thilawa Special Economic Zone. It will also link with the Yangon-Mandalay highway and construction is expected to commence in 2019.
Onsite work has started in the Kapiti Coast region on the Otaki-Peka Peka Expressway, part of the greater Wellington Northern Corridor project. Simon Bridges, New Zealand’s transport minister, recently turned the first sod on the US$175 million project. Travel times should be improved between Port of Wellington, hospitals, Wellington’s central business district and ferry terminals. Russian state company Avtodor is to announce a tender for a new €3.42 billion (RUB 149.1 billion) section of Moscow-St. Petersburg toll highway.
