Construction starts on Yichang section of China’s Yichang-Yueyang expressway

Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
China’s new longest highway is due to be completed by the end of June 2014. Around 97% of Xinjiang region's 428.9km Aksu-Kashgar highway is said to have been completed to date. The new route will eventually cost just over US$2 billion (CNY 12.3 billion) and is scheduled to open at the end of September 2014.
Work is underway in China's Hebei province on the Zhangjiakou section of Erenhot-Qinhuangdao expressway. A total of US$1.12 billion (CNY 7 billion) will be invested in the 130.13km section, which will span between Dongtan Village of Guyuan County and Bainaobao Village of Kangbao County.
A total of US$ 4.36 billion (CNY 27bn) is to be invested in 11 expressway projects in China's Haikou city. They include the around 15km Jiangdong No 27 expressway and the 9km Linggui expressway. Meanwhile, Qiongshan Avenue-Airport North Road-Xindazhou Avenue expressway will stretch over 14km; Longkun Road over 15km; a distance of 9km will be covered on Qiuhai Avenue; with another expressway being the 11km Green Corridor. A series of major expressway projects are under construction in China's Shaanxi province. The five expressways will improve transport links for six cities. Costing US$1.46 billion, the 75km Hancheng-Huanglong expressway should be ready for traffic in 2022.
