Concern at increasing crashes in Germany

Concern is being expressed over the increase in the number of road traffic fatalities in Germany. The German statistical office, Statistisches Bundesamt, has revealed there were a total of 3,475 road traffic fatalities in Germany in 2015. This was an increase of 89 from the previous year. This is the second consecutive year of an increase in road fatalities. Traffic deaths for 2013 were just 3,339, the lowest level on record since the 1950s. Concern is being expressed over the increase in the number of road traffic fatalities in Germany. The German statistical office, Statistisches Bundesamt, has revealed there were a total of 3,475 road traffic fatalities in Germany in 2015. This was an increase of 89 from the previous year. This is the second consecutive year of an increase in road fatalities. Traffic deaths for 2013 were just 3,339, the lowest level on record since the 1950s. Meanwhile the number of people injured in road traffic crashes grew by 1.1% to 393,700 in 2015 compared with the previous year.

    South Korea’s road safety is improving, according to its National Police Agency. The figures show that the number of deaths caused by traffic crashes in the country dropped from 4,762 in 2014 to 4,621 in 2015. Of note is that 38.8% of the road deaths involved pedestrians.     France has achieved major results in reducing road deaths in the last 10 years but now appears to have hit a barrier with regard to better road safety.     Cambodia’s crashes continue to be a cause for concern. The country’s National Committee for Road Traffic Safety says that road deaths increased by 11% during the first nine months of 2017 compared with the same period in 2016. The area identified as haing the highest rates of road deaths were Kandal, Kampong Thom and Phnom Penh.
