Colombia’s fourth generation road project tenders underway

The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) in Colombia has opened a tender process for the first four out of 30 fourth generation road projects in the South American country. A total of US$24.75 billion (COP 44tn) is to be invested in the projects. The pre-qualified bidders will be known in around six weeks. The contracts will be awarded in September. The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) in Colombia has opened a tender process for the first four out of 30 fourth generation road projects in the South American country. A total of US$24.75 billion (COP 44tn) is to be invested in the projects. The pre-qualified bidders will be known in around six weeks. The contracts will be awarded in September.

The fourth generation road projects will be located in Costa Caribe, Valle del Cauca and Cundinamarca. They include the 164km Caqueza-La Calera-Sopo corridor, the 205km Puerto Salgar-Girardot corridor, the 90km road between Jumbo and Loboguerrero, and the 152km of roads between Cartagena and Barranquilla and Malambo.

  • Colombia’s Toyo Tunnel project underway

    Construction is ongoing for Colombia’s Toyo tunnel project in Antioquia. The tunnel is located between Giraldo and Canasgordas and some 120km from Medellin. The tunnel should open to traffic in 2024 if the project sticks to its planned schedule. The main tunnel section will measure some 9.85km-long although the project involves drilling side tunnels and emergency areas. The work is costing US$588.4 million.
