Colombian highway project open to tenders

A major highway project for Colombia has now been opened to tenders. The project is for the Autopistas de la Prosperidad highway and the first five sections of this link have been opened to tender. Only 10 construction firms are being selected to send final bids, while the contracts will be awarded in November 2013. A major highway project for Colombia has now been opened to tenders. The project is for the Autopistas de la Prosperidad highway and the first five sections of this link have been opened to tender. Only 10 construction firms are being selected to send final bids, while the contracts will be awarded in November 2013.     The Mexico’s Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT) has confirmed that a total of 1,474 road infrastructure contracts were granted in the first half of 2015. This work is costing in the region of US$1.02 billion. A total of 74% of these contracts were awarded to Mexican companies, whilst 26% corresponded to foreign firms. SCT informed that 31 projects were concluded so far in 2015 and added that 12 additional initiatives were expected to be completed by the end of the year.

    In Colombia work on the dual carriageway connecting Bogota and Buenaventura is now 40% complete. The link should be complete by the end of 2016. The Bogota-Girardot road is now opening, with excavation work still underway on the La Linea tunnel.
