The first firm example of Chinese-European shared crane expertise is being unveiled today by 1175 Zoomlion. The Hunan-based manufacturer acquired technology from German-firm JOST and as a result is offering its novel T320 “topless” tower crane, the first in a new series of saddle jib machines from the firm.

The new T320 tower crane is the first developed since Chinese purchase of JOST and meets all the European CE requirements for these machines.

The crane combines quality German engineering with Chinese manufacturing technology and offers high performance in a competitive package. A development from previous JOST designs, the lifting capacity is said to be good excellent performance and productivity, as well as an array of safety features.

The crane structure is said to be extremely strong and able to cope with repeated load cycles, allowing a long working life. It offers a maximum lift of 1.7tonnes at full working radius, while the heaviest load it can carry is 16tonnes.

Innovative square design

Features include a new four-section counter-jib design with multiple confi gurations for varying jib length and reduced space requirements for counter-jib slewing. These meet a range of different customer needs, while an innovative pin connection for the jib section joint design helps speed assembly and dismantling operations.

The innovative square cross-section design for the first jib section offers high capacity and also provides sufficient space for maintenance and overhaul duties. An all-frequency converter control system governs hoisting, slewing and trolley mechanisms and ensures smooth-shifting, as well as reducing forces exerted on the tower. A large, air-conditioned cabinet for its integrated electrical control system aids maintenance procedures and also helps extend the working life of the components. In addition, cable connecters are used in the electrics, allowing fast and easy connections.

The large cab has good all-round visibility and high comfort levels for the operator, further boosting safety and productivity. Industry interest is strong in this machine and the company has already received orders for up to 30 units from a customer in Singapore.
