China's Shandong and Tianjing Provinces plan to boost transport links with major investment programmes in hand. In the 2011-2015 period Shandong Province will benefit from the construction of 245,000km of roads, including 765km of highways.

These new road links will help the flow of goods through the region as Shandong province's major sea port will also benefit from an upgrade allowing it to handle 1 billion tonnes of goods/year.

Meanwhile in Tianjing Province, a road project featuring nine bridges and worth a total of $97 million will be carried out by Tianjin Construction Engineering, a unit of 890 China Railway First Engineering Group (China Railway). The new West Outer Ring highway for the Binhai New Area in Tianjin has been split into sections, with Tianjin Construction Engineering carrying out the work on section No16, No8 and No2.
