The CEA (3418 Construction Equipment Association) is busy finalising its ‘Money, Markets and Machines’ conference mapping the future of the Construction Equipment industry.

As with all the previous CEA conferences, a number of key speakers from the construction and related industries will be sharing their business experiences with like-minded delegates, which include professionals from construction equipment manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and other associated organisations.

Breakfast TV News Business Correspondent, Steph McGovern, will play the role of moderator of proceedings during the event being held 10am-4pm on Wednesday 4 September at 1 George Street, Westminster, London.

A dynamic professional and a ‘Young Engineer for Britain’ award winner, Steph has reported from all the big financial events across the world and broadcast live from the CEA’s 3579 PLANTWORX 2013 construction exhibition.

The conference keynote speaker this year is Sir Richard Lambert, lead non-executive director on the FCO (Foreign & Commonwealth Office) supervisory board since November 2011. He is also a former member of the Monetary Policy Committee and a former director general of the CBI.  For six years – 1991-1997 - Lambert was the editor of the Financial Times before heading off to launch the US version of the title.

Another key speaker is Peter Hansford – the UK government’s chief construction adviser. A former president of the Institute of Civil Engineers and project manager for the construction of the Docklands Light Railway and executive director of the Strategic Rail Authority, He continues to chair the industry-wide Infrastructure Steering Committee.

Speaking about this year’s conference, Rob Oliver, CEA’s chief executive, said, “We are trying a new type of session at the event this year by introducing our ‘Futures Panel – The Seven Year View’. We are asking leaders in and around the construction equipment world to answer this simple question: Looking back from 2020, what critical developments did you witness that affected machine design and demand since 2013?

“Did tightening engine emission regulations help or hinder sales? Did hybrid technology take off? Did plant hire fizz or founder? Did machines really get safer, greener and more efficient? These are the sort of questions we think will be addressed by leading OEMs, contractors, plant hirers and commentators.”

Oliver said that the CEA will be asking for answers to the challenging 2020 retrospective question in an innovative ‘tweet form’ - of no more than 140 characters.

Delegates will also be hearing from more inspirational key speakers from the construction equipment industry, these include, Paul Howard, consultant to Off Highway Research; Dr William Thomson – a director of economics; and economist Sonya Patel. There will be further contributions from members of the Construction Products Association.

The dates and venue for PLANTWORX 2015 will also be announced at the conference.
