The new models are the CB44B and CB54B, and the CD44B and CD54B. Key upgrades include redesigned cabs, new controls and improved diagnostics capabilities and better visibility will improve safety and ease of operation. The optional Cat Compaction Control is a smart feature that combines infrared temperature sensors with mapping to keep the operator informed of current mat temperatures, machine position, and coverage completion. This system boosts night-time performance, and also records information for future process analysis and quality control documentation. Combined with drum edge and drum surface lighting, Cat Compaction Control is said to extend the working day and increase daily production by optimising jobsite awareness in low-light conditions. The rollers are said to perform well in vibratory or static mode, enabling a single machine to perform breakdown, intermediate and finishing work. The B-Series machines can be equipped with solid- or split-drum designs as required. The latter design is said to deliver good mat quality in urban environments and confined working areas where frequent turning is required. The solid drum offers expanded vibratory choices to match amplitude and frequency requirements and is said to perform well in high-production street and highway applications.

The CB44B is equipped with 1.5m drums and a Cat C3.4B engine rated at 75kW. The CB54B has 1.7m drums and features a larger C4.4 engine rated at 98kW. The powertrain comes standard with ECO-mode and automatic speed control, saving fuel, reducing sound levels, and lowering operating costs. The CD44B and CD54B rollers feature front and rear-pivoting drums and four steering modes for excellent maneuverability and smoother performance when turning. The four steering modes include front drum only, rear drum only, coordinated, and crab operation. With its maximum offset, the CD44B provides a total compaction width of 2.8m while the CD54B has a total compaction width of 3m at full offset. The B-Series tandem rollers offer a variety of vibratory options including dual amplitude, dual frequency, Versa Vibe, and five amplitude systems. Dual amplitude and dual frequency can be tailored to thick and thin lift applications. A single switch automatically matches amplitude and frequency.

The CB44B and CD44B tandem rollers compete in the 7-10tonne size class, while the CB54B and CD54B compete in the 8-11.3tonne class. The Cat engines powering the machines meet Tier 4 interim/Stage IIIB emission requirements. The weight has been redistributed to improve compaction and the machines are said to have best-in-class amplitude. Long maintenance schedules reduce running costs with vibration and hydraulics systems both featuring service intervals of three years or 3,000 hours. Reliability is said to be good due to the use of robust components such as the Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB compliant engines. The tandem vibratory rollers can be adjusted to suit different conditions and needs, with a single switch to match amplitude with frequency. Five amplitudes are offered, as well as a Versa Vibe Vibratory system for the CB54B model that delivers varying forces to suit rolling speeds. The Caterpillar compaction control package comes with temperature measurement and an optional GNSS mapping capability. Other features include lighting at the drum surface and edge for easier night time working as well as water spray systems that have single fill points.
