Cat is unveiling its 336E H hybrid excavator at bauma
Described as a “game-changer” by Gary Stampanato, vice president of 178 Caterpillar’s excavation division, the Cat 336E H hybrid excavator will be officially launched at the 688 Bauma show.

Using new hydraulic technology developed by Cat, the hybrid machine is said to deliver uncompromised performance, durability and reliability.

Cat claims the 336E H delivers industry-leading productivity, with up to 50% greater fuel efficiency over the 336D. It is also said to use up 25% less fuel than a standard 336E, and up to 33% less fuel than the 330/336D.

As the 336E H burns less fuel and reduces regulated engine emissions, owning and deployment costs are said to be much lower than a standard machine, and its carbon footprint will also be smaller.

Based on high-production levels and current fuel prices, Cat estimates that customers can expect to see a return on their investment in a 336E H machine after just one year.

Cat says that, like a standard machine, 336E H components can be replaced or rebuilt to maximise the hybrid’s service life.

Meanwhile, customer support for the 336E H is provided exclusively by Bat’s worldwide dealer network. The new hybrid excavator can also come with extended warranties and service contracts.

The 336E H is among a number of machine models being unveiled by Cat at the Munich show. The U.S. construction equipment manufacturing giant will have a stand covering three different exhibit areas totalling 12,000m².

Cat’s latest E-series excavator is the 16.7tonne 316E. It replaces the 315D and gets a Cat C4.4 Acert engine to meet EU Stage IIIb emissions. It is the first of three smaller E series being launched by Cat this year. Electric boom regeneration is also available on the new model, and combined with the latest engine technology, gives the company a fuel-saving focus. There is a new cab with lower noise levels – typically a 4dB(a) reduction over its D series predecessor – and improved comfort and visibility too
