Cambodia awards key US$27mn road contract

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia (MPWTC) said it expected the completion of a US$27million upgrade of Road No9, linking the districts of Phin and Outhoumphone, by March 2015. The forecast comes after the MPWTC awarded a civil work contract to a Japan-based joint venture between Obayashi and Obayashi Road. The ministry will utilise a grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance the project.

The 5719 Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia (MPWTC)  said it expected the completion of a US$27million upgrade of Road No9, linking the districts of Phin and Outhoumphone, by March 2015.

The forecast comes after the MPWTC awarded a civil work contract to a Japan-based joint venture between Obayashi and Obayashi Road. The ministry will utilise a grant from the 2416 Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance the project.

    An ambitious road improvement scheme has been proposed by the Mozambique Government. The programme of works calls for the paving of 2,100km of roads by 2019. The scheme will address both national and regional roads across the country between 2015 and 2019, covering around 420km/year of roads on average.     Upgrade work is now underway on a key section of National Road No3 in Cambodia. The 134km stretch connects Kamput with Bek Kus and the work will cost US$200 million.
