Calls for Czech Republic R7 dual carriageway project funds

Mayors of north-west Bohemia have urged the Czech Prime Minister to provide funds for the completion of the R7 dual carriageway. The project was launched in 1964 but has made slow progress. There are several completed sections while preparation of others was cancelled in 2012. At present, a 15.8km section between Chomutov and Velemysleves is being built with completion scheduled for September 2013. There are no other plans at present after the construction of this section worth US$ 234.48 million (CZK 4.50b

    The Czech road management company RSD is seeking a contractor for construction of 15km of the D11 motorway between Hradec Kralove and Smirice. Both towns are in northern Czech Republic, near the Polish border. The work is worth around €218.3 million, according to Czech media, and is one of the last remaining sections of the D11 to be built. Construction of another section between the town of Trutnov and the border with Poland is likely to start in 2019 and the Jaromer-Trutnov section after 2020.

    Japanese financing will help pay for new bridges in Nicaragua. The funding package is worth nearly US$43 million and is being provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The four bridge will be constructed on the road that connects Rio Blanco and Siuna in Nicaragua’s North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region (RACCN). The agreement has been settled between JICA and the Nicaraguan Government. The new bridges will help improve connections between the Pacific Coast Coast and the Caribbean Coast

    Progress is now being seen in Colombia with regard to key tunnel and road projects. A consortium comprising Conconcreto and CSS Constructores is to complete the 12% of work still needed to finish the La Linea Tunnel project.
  • Repairs to Guerrero, Mexico hurricane-hit roads and bridges near end

    The Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT) in Mexico has announced that roads and bridges in Guerrero affected by hurricanes during September 2013 will be repaired by mid-May 2014. However, repairs on the Barra Vieja bridge, costing US$38.27 million (MXN 500 million), will only be completed on 15 September 2014. Other projects are also planned for Guerrero, including school and housing schemes, following the hurricane damage. Guerrero will receive funds of more than MXN 30bn from the central gov
