CAF grants US$200mn for works on São Paulo roads

The Latin American Development Bank (CAF) has granted a loan of US$ 200 million for the modernisation and upgrading of roads in São Paulo, Brazil. The works will include 11 roads covering 316km through 27 municipalities of the state of São Paulo. Of those eleven projects, nine have international concessions.

The 5516 Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) has granted a loan of US$ 200 million for the modernisation and upgrading of roads in São Paulo, Brazil.     The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a loan worth €50 million to help with the rehabilitation of regional and local roads as well as the modernisation and improvement of transport infrastructure in Albania.     The Nigerian government has completed a project costing US$796.71 million (NGN 126bn) to restore 32 roads covering a combined 2,000kms. The federal government will also upgrade nine railway stations across the country on public private partnerships (PPPs). Mike Onolememen, the Minister of Works in Nigeria, is reported by African media to have told the recent 2013 Ministerial Platform in Abuja, Nigeria that the extensive improvements meant that the country’s roads can no longer be described as “death traps”.
