Bidding is underway for the first section of Bulgaria's Trakiya Highway. This will be followed shortly by the bidding process for the second 32km stretch of the highway which will be 32km long. The highway is due for completion by early June 2010.
Discussions are now underway on a new highway to connect Turkey with Romania. A major stretch of this new highway will run through Bulgaria, which will provide a much-needed link in the country as it has insufficient express road infrastructure at present. The Bulgarian section of the highway would run from Ruse to Svilengrad. The political leaders of Bulgaria and Turkey, as well as Qatar, have been in discussions over the proposed project
The 101km-long motorway - also called the Bucharest Belt Motorway and the A0 Motorway -will be an outer ring highway to the existing inner Bucharest Ring Road around the Romanian capital city.
Plans are in hand in Algeria for work to commence on the first sections of the Hauts-Plateaux highways, with tenders now being prepared. The Ministry for Public Works has revealed that construction work for the first stretches of the highway will be likely to get underway in June 2014. The technical specifications for the project are still in the process of being determined. Expectations are for strong bidding for the 30km sections of the highway being put out to tender.
