Bidding is underway for the first section of Bulgaria's Trakiya Highway. This will be followed shortly by the bidding process for the second 32km stretch of the highway which will be 32km long. The highway is due for completion by early June 2010.
There is a lot of work to do on Bulgarian roads, but the government has plans to increase the length of highways built each year as Krasimir Krastanov reports. Bulgarian roads with a pavement make up 98.4% of all the country's roads, while 92.5% of them have an asphalt surface and 82.8% of them are able to carry 10tonnes/axle.
Work on a new 172km highway is underway in Morocco. Financing worth US$706.7 million is being budgeted for the new highway, which will connect Berrechid-Beni with Mellal.
