Bulgaria will attract infrastructure investment

Key infrastructure projects look set to help revitalise Bulgaria’s economy. Concession packages for 10 infrastructure projects in the country could attract outside investment worth as much as €511.3 million. Bulgaria's Transport Ministry believes that the country could qualify for some €2 billion in EU funding for the development of transport corridors in the period from now until to the end of 2014.

    The Bulgarian and Romanian Governments have agreed over projects to build new bridges crossing the Danube River and linking the country. One of the two bridges will be constructed between Nikopol and Turnu Magurele while the other will connect Silistra and Calarasi.   • A key section of highway is now open in Romania

    In Romania the northern section of the bypass around the city of Constanta is open to traffic. The bypass forms part of the Pan-European Road Corridor IV and work on this section was financed by the European Bank for reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
