Brazil’s road infrastructure to get part of US $ 1.36bn fund

Brazil’s road infrastructure is to be improved with a share of the Brazilian Bank for Economic and Social Development’s (BNDES) US $ 1.36 billion (BRL 2.76bn) investment fund for the states of Minas Gerais and Maranhao. The money will also be spent on socioeconomic projects in education, health, sanitation, and public safety.

Brazil’s road infrastructure is to be improved with a share of the 6720 Brazilian Bank for Economic and Social Development’s (BNDES) US $ 1.36 billion (BRL 2.76bn) investment fund for the states of Minas Gerais and Maranhao.

The money will also be spent on socioeconomic projects in education, health, sanitation, and public safety.

The company will acquire 19% from Italian civil engineering group Impregilo, in a deal valued at US$971.32 million (BRL 2.02bn), bringing its control over the firm from 45% to 65%. The Administrative Council for Economic Defence (Cade) has already green-lit the operation.

    The tender process for Brazil’s 364/365 highway will commence in mid-September 2019. The 437km route connects Jatai, Ituiutaba and Uberlandia in Minas Gerais State. The concession deal will be for 30 years and investment in the road is expected to be worth US$1.22 billion. The tender will be awarded to the firm offering the lowest toll rate. The national land transport agency, ANTT, is overseeing the tender process.
