Brazil’s anti-corruption drive continues, with the country’s Federal Police now carrying out investigations into a series of road projects across the country. So far the investigations have seen police action being taken in four states across the country, including search and seizure operations. The investigations are focussing on issues such as whether bribes have been paid to secure contracts or whether fraud surrounds a number of loans. Concern that funds intended for road maintenance, repairs or construction have been misappropriated have prompted the police action and the need for further investigations has not been ruled out.

  • Colombia’s key road transport projects

    A series of major road transport projects are moving ahead in Colombia, with the country’s national infrastructure agency (ANI), handling most of the deals. In the country’s capital, Bogota, design work is now complete on the Calle 13 and Accesos Norte II road projects.   • Funding for Nicaragua road improvements

    Road improvements in Nicaragua will now be paid for through a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). The US$238 million loan will fund a series of upgrades to a total of 194km of key road connections in the country. A further $5 million of funding is being provided by the Nicaraguan Government. The work will form the country’s seventh programme for road improvements will commence in 2018 with six separate projects being carried out.
