Bosnian highway underway

Construction work on a section of Bosnia's Corridor 5c highway is set to commence by the end of September 2011.

Construction work on a section of Bosnia's Corridor 5c highway is set to commence by the end of September 2011. The section of highway being built is located in Ljubuska and Capljina, with work staring on the 4km Kravica-Bijaca and due for completion in 10 months. Loans worth €511.29 million will be provided jointly by the 1166 European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the 1054 European Investment Bank (EIB).

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide a loan of €166 million to part finance the project.     Bosnian motorways company Autoputevi RS claims that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has expressed readiness to approve a €350 million loan for the construction of the 46.6km long part of the Corridor Vc motorway, from Doboj to Vukosavlje. The project is set to be carried out through what has been described as a public and private partnership model.

  • Construction is commencing on a key connection, Corridor 10, in Macedonia

    Work will commence shortly on the Demir Kapija-Smokvica section of Macedonia’s Corridor 10 highway. The work is being funded by financing worth €100 million from the European Investment bank (EIB) in addition to €353 million that the Macedonian Government is providing from its other sources. The highway will provide and important link between Macedonia and its neighbours when the work is complete.

    Construction work is now going ahead on the Suhodol-Tarcin section of Bosnia’s Corridor Vc highway. The Bosnian Government and highway company Autoceste FBiH Mostar signed a contract with Turkish company Cengiz Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret for this section of the Corridor Vc highway. The deal is worth €115.2 million and will be for construction of a total of 5km of the motorway. The work is expected to take 28 months to complete.
