Bobcat previews 8.5tonne midi excavator

Bobcat, a division of Doosan, is showing a prototype of the E85 midi excavator, an 8.5tonne machine powered by a Yanmar 44.3kW Stage IIIB engine. The machine meets the emissions standard through the use of exhaust gas recirculation and a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The reduced tailswing excavator has 4% more power than the previous E80 model, yet is said to offer a 7% improvement in fuel economy. Bucket digging force is also up 7%, and 6,600kg.

E85 to offer increased digging performance
1130 Bobcat, a division of 695 Doosan, is showing a prototype of the E85 midi excavator, an 8.5tonne machine powered by a 7139 Yanmar 44.3kW Stage IIIB engine.

Tractive effort has been boosted by 3% and the machine offers a higher, 4.7km/h travel speed. Bobcat claims that this combination results in a 12% cut in cycle times, increasing productivity.

Operators benefit from a lower noise level of 71dB(A) within the new ROPS cab, which is equipped with a colour LCD monitor that provides access to hydraulic pressures and flows for attachment selection. A high-capacity air conditioning system is standard and the machine comes with an electric refuelling pump and the option of a rear view camera.

The E85 has a digging depth of 4,175mm, a reach at ground level of 6,765mm and a dump height of 4,645mm. Bobcat should have the machine available from later this year.
