Bids welcomed for Chile Route D 43 road concession

The Ministry of Public Works of Chile has opened the bids for the near US $ 227 million (CLP 109.39bn) Route D 43 road concession in Chile. Sacyr Concesiones are reported to have submitted the best offer. The road concession goes between La Serena and Ovalle.

    The debt owed by the Spanish Government’s Ministry of Works to infrastructure firm, Abertis, for the expansion of the AP-7 road in Catalonia stood at €1.07 billion (US$1.39bn) by the end of 2012 – an increase of 40.7% in just one year. The concession firm, Acesa, which is part of the Abertis group, signed an agreement with the Government in 2006 to add an additional carriageway on certain stretches of the highway, with the toll system also being changed to a payment model on exit instead of central tolls.     The Moroccan Government is increasing its investment in roads and highways by 21% from last year. The country intends to spend US$6.32 billion on improving the road network. A further $14.5 billion is expected from private sources and other funding bodies. Work on the El Jadida-Safi highway project will commence in 2012 and is expected to cost $497million.     Croatia’s construction company Integral Inzinjering has submitted the lowest bid of €43 million for construction of access roads for the Peljeski bridge project. Croatian daily newspaper Vecernji List reported that seven bidsd were submitted for the 12.4km project.
