Bell launches high-manoeuvrability 4x4 ADT for narrow bench work

Bell has introduced a 4x4 version of its B30D articulated dump truck (ADT). The machine has the front chassis, cab and engine of the standard 6x6 but comes with a shortened rear chassis and a single axle. Bell’s 4x4 ADT has a shorter wheelbase to give higher manoeuvrability on narrow benches
1240 Bell has introduced a 4x4 version of its B30D articulated dump truck (ADT).

The machine has the front chassis, cab and engine of the standard 6x6 but comes with a shortened rear chassis and a single axle.

According to Neville Paynter, managing director of Bell UK, the machine’s short wheelbase reduces the turning circle by around 25%, making it ideal for use in underground mining and on narrow benches. Production volumes of the 4x4 are expected to be low and will include the E series with the suspended front axle, the 3713 Allison transmission with an integral speed-holding retarder and all-round wet discs.

All E series machines come with a new cab, a keyless start system and a user settable inclinometer, which prevents the body tipping if the ground is 15° from horizontal. It also has a turbo wind-down system, hill assist and additional protection features to prevent misuse.

According to Paynter, the new transmission is much smoother and the pre-production E series machines are showing an improvement in productivity and fuel economy over their D series counterparts. He says the engine does not de-rate if run without AdBlue and ultra-low sulphur diesel is not a necessity – factors that will open up opportunities for second hand sales.
Production versions of the E series machines start in June.

So the mining company contracted heavy haulage specialist Boom Logistics to collect the excavator and transport it to the repair shop 22km away. http://www.goldho
