The doors are being thrown wide open today, Monday, for the 33rd edition of bauma - the world's leading trade fair for construction and mining machinery - in the southern German city of Munich.

The event at the Trade Fair Center Messe München is running until October 30 and thousands of attendees are expected, visiting indoor displays and the outdoor demonstration areas. Being showcased are the latest construction machinery, building material machines and mining machines as well as all types of construction vehicles and equipment.

The themes of electrification of machinery and alternative fuels, digitalisation of the construction site, sustainability of the construction process, operational cost control and equity feature strongly in many of the exhibits.

The German federal minister for digital and transport, Volker Wissing, and Bavaria’s minister resident, Markus Söder, together with the chief executive of Messe München, Stefan Rummel, will officially open bauma this morning.
Later this afternoon, the deputy Bavarian minister president and Bavarian minister of economic affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, will start a tour of bauma in Hall A3.

More than 3,100 exhibitors from over 60 countries are presenting their exhibits, innovations and trends across 614,000m² in the halls and outdoor areas - the same as roughly 86 football fields.

In the outdoor area, attendees once again can look upwards through the famous “crane forest” where more than 30 cranes are towering above the crowds. To get a birds-eye view of the outdoor area, click here to open the live webcam.
