ARTBA’s student video competition winners revealed

Prizes have been awarded by the American Road Transportation and Builders Association (ARTBA) in its 2014 student video competition. In Category Two for Post-Secondary, College or Graduate Students Aubury Erickson at Florida Polytechnic University won with the video: “Our Deficient Transportation Infrastructure”. Prizes have been awarded by the American Road Transportation and Builders Association (ARTBA) in its 2014 student video competition. In Category Two for Post-Secondary, College or Graduate Students Aubury Erickson at Florida Polytechnic University won with the video: “Our Deficient Transportation Infrastructure”. Erickson, a freshman studying mechanical and industrial engineering in Lakeland, Florida, created an informative, four-minute animation outlining the importance the US transportation system to the US economy. As narrator, she explains how America’s transportation infrastructure has been given a “D” rating by the American Society for Civil Engineers. She highlights the nation’s transportation funding challenges, lack of investment and the importance of maintaining a well-developed and sufficient transportation network. Meanwhile Second Place was awarded to: “The Cars of the Future-Engineering” by David Baril, an animation major at the Southwest University of Visual Arts in Glendale, Arizona.

  • ARTBA calls for more bridge repairs in US

    The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) is calling for more bridge repairs in the US. There are still too many structurally deficient bridges in the US according to a recent analysis. This report states that while there were 2,574 fewer structurally deficient bridges in 2015 compared to the number in 2014, there are still 58,500 on the structurally deficient list.
