The 920 American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) is challenging students to produce a short video that explores the various logistical, financial and structural issues facing the US transportation infrastructure.  The association is now seeking submissions for the fourth annual Student Video Contest. Sponsored by ARTBA’s Research and Education Division (RED), the competition provides a forum for young Americans to tackle an issue of their choosing, with most likely to focus on how transportation infrastructure is built and paid for, the impacts of traffic congestion, transportation and urban development plans, and the public’s perception of transportation development. Students may enter in one of two categories: elementary through high school, or college/graduate school.  Winning entrants will receive a $500 cash prize and have their videos screened during ARTBA’s National Convention, held September 7-9 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Last year, ARTBA received more than 40 submissions from across the nation, with first prize in Category I going to a high school sophomore from Illinois, and first prize in Category II going to an undergraduate from University of Maryland University College. The submissions deadline is August 1.  Entries will be judged by the association’s top volunteer leaders.  Contact ARTBA’s Lital Shair for more information at: +1 202 298-4434.
