The digital future of transport will be on display in April at the 7th 1109 Transport Research Arena - TRA 2018 - Europe's largest transport research and technology conference.

The motto “A Digital Era for Transport” is a fitting focus for the Vienna event, said Herald Ruijters, director for investment, innovative and sustainable transport at the 2465 European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE).

Mobility must be efficient, safe, secure and environmentally friendly and create the conditions for a competitive industry generating growth and jobs, he said. The issues and challenges connected to this require action at European and international levels. No national government can address them successfully alone.

TRA 2018 is THE international transport research conference for scientists, researchers and engineers, as well as companies and stakeholders in the field of transport and mobility. Every two years, representatives from policy, research and industry exchange ideas about the latest developments and innovations for the design of future mobility systems.

“The European Commission has been a keen supporter of the TRA since its inception in 2006,” he said. “For me, it will be my first time attending the event that covers all modes of transport and their interconnecting activities such as logistics, urban mobility and multimodal traffic management.

“This variety – gathering industry, academia, researchers, policy-makers and users from all modes of transport under one roof – gives the opportunity for attendees to talk not only with his or her peers but to enlarge the dialogue with others who are not easily reachable in daily work,” said Ruijters.

TRA 2018 held April 16-19 will be hosted by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology together with the 2682 Austrian Institute of Technology and AustriaTech.

Over event’s four days, the 3,000 participants will choose between more than 600 presentations. This will include insights into crucial topics, such as automated driving, decarbonisation, logistics, transport infrastructure and enabling technologies as 5G, IoT or block chains. Legal and organisational framework conditions will also be the focus of discussions.

All modes of transport will be covered. In addition, the 7,000m² international exhibition will provide additional interactive presentations and demonstrations and feature other highlights of the programme aimed at bringing transport research to life.

Register now and secure the earl-bird prices. With this registration, you will be able to access high level discussions, as well as an exhibition with interactive presentations and hands-on experience.

Tickets are available from €480 for all four days of the conference. In addition, one-day tickets, exhibitor tickets and student tariffs are offered.

Following the final confirmation of their submission, authors, speakers and reviewers will receive specific information and be able to register at a reduced price.
