In the Middle East nation Qatar, a large-scale highway project is underway that will make significant improvements for vehicle capacity and cut journey times for drivers. The new route will also improve transport connections between Qatar’s ports and neighbouring Saudi Arabia. At the same time, the new highway will carry much of the heavy vehicle traffic travelling between the two countries.
As it celebrates 70 years of business, Italian wheeled loader manufacturer VF Venieri is looking in a new direction in its bid to keep customers happy. “Everbody says that the future is service but I think that service is the past,” says VF Venieri managing director Filippo Muccinelli Venieri. “Today, everybody expects good service as a matter of course. The future is technology solutions to improve the efficiency, operator comfort and productivity of machines.”

Sophisticated wireless charging technology could offer major benefits to users of electric vehicles. A number of firms have been working together on developing new wireless charging systems that could reduce delays and extend range for drivers. Inductive-charging systems are being tested at present, with Renault carrying out research in Europe on its electric vehicles.
According to All Pakistan Marble Mining Processing Industry and Exporters Association chairman Sanaullah Khan, marble exports totalled US$70 million (€51 million) from July 2013 to April 2014, a 45% year-on-year increase.
China accounted for half of this amount, primarily semi-finished products, while other major importers include the USA, Europe, Middle East, Japan and South-east Asia.
Over 90% of the exported marble originated from Balochistan province and the nearby city of Karachi.
