A car thief in the US has been the butt of many jokes after failing in his attempt to steal a DeLorean DMC-12 sports car. The vehicle was parked by the roadside and had attracted the interest of many passers-by when the thief intervened and forced the owner out of the car, then drove off at speed, but police were alerted quickly. Air quality specialist EarthSense is working with Oxfordshire County Council in England and connected vehicle company Tantalum to understand road traffic’s impact on air quality. Council fleet vehicles are being fitted with EarthSense’s Zephyr air quality measuring sensors that give real-time data on vehicle emissions and air quality along the route. The data collected by EarthSense will be used to coordinate traffic light control in an attempt to mitigate road congestion and, therefore, air pollution.
Industrial equipment auctioneer Ritchie Bros. reported its largest-ever UK auction was held in July, in Donington Park.
More than 120 sellers put over 1,600 item on the block for the 900-plus bidders – all record levels, according to Ritchie Bros.
All items in the unreserved public auction at the motor racing circuit were sold without minimum bids or reserve prices. Bids were placed in person at the Donington Park auction site, live online via rbauction.com and by proxy.
