Approval for new Zealand link

Official approval has been given for New Zealand's new Waterview highway project. The project is estimated to be worth some US$1.53 billion (NZ$1.85 billion).

Official approval has been given for New Zealand's new Waterview highway project. The project is estimated to be worth some US$1.53 billion (NZ$1.85 billion). The 8km highway section will run from Te Atatu and St Lukes. The work involves widening a stretch of the existing Northwestern Motorway and bidding is expected to commence in 2012 with work due to start in 2013.

This new stretch is costing US$1.53 billion and will form part of the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway (PKM). The plans call for the project to be carried out under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, although the details have yet to be finalised.
