Andhra Pradesh sets 1,040km of highways target

Indian state plans to complete construction by end of year

The state of Andhra Pradesh in India has set the target of building 1,040km of national highways by December 2025.

The Times of India reported the state's chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu as saying the project will involve an outlay of INR20.067bn (US$234.7m).

The report continued that 3,483 km of roads are currently under construction in the state across 144 projects under the Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) with an investment of INR76.856bn (US$899.3m).

Naidu says that he wants road connectivity between the Andhra Pradesh cities of Kadapa and Vijayawada, and Bengalaru in the state of Karnataka to be completed by June 2026.
