3713 Allison transmission aims to retain its strong position in the transmission market with its latest array of products. Key machines featuring Allison transmissions will include equipment from Astra, 7228 Hino, 2796 Mercedes, 1241 Randon and 2740 Perlini. The Mercedes Zetros 1833 is a novel 4x4 underground mining tractor, while 1240 Bell is showing its new B25E and B30E articulated dump trucks, all of which are equipped with the latest Allison 3000 Series fully automatic transmissions. Rigid truck transmissions from Allison will be fitted to the 1222 Terex TR40 and TR60 and Perlini DP705 machines. 2409 Iveco’s new Astra HHD9 is equipped with Allison’s 4700R transmission, which replaces the former HHD8 unit.
Crusher spares specialist CMS Cepcor has opened a new technical centre at Coalville in the UK and has now transferred its Baguley Precision Engineering business into the newly formed Precision Services Division. The company has moved machine servicing from Burton-on-Trent to the new technical centre and retained all the engineering staff. Within the centre is a CNC manufacturing capability, which will enhance the manufacturing, inspection and repair facilities at Coalville.
Synthetic diamond division of DeBeers, Element Six, has developed the 3D Percussive Diamond Insert (PDI) that it claims will radically cut costs in the mining drill industry. The 3D PDI uses the firm’s polycrystalline diamond technology to optimise wear and impact resistance properties, while improving penetration rates for the drill bit. Claimed to offer up to 20% greater fuel efficiency than previous models, Caterpillar will be unveiling its 988K wheeled loader at bauma. The 988K, a complete upgrade of the H Series, meets the stringent European Union (EU) Stage IV/United States (U.S.) EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. Another Cat wheeled loader being showcased at bauma is the 966K XE, equipped with an advanced powertrain system.
