3713 Allison transmission aims to retain its strong position in the transmission market with its latest array of products. Key machines featuring Allison transmissions will include equipment from Astra, 7228 Hino, 2796 Mercedes, 1241 Randon and 2740 Perlini. The Mercedes Zetros 1833 is a novel 4x4 underground mining tractor, while 1240 Bell is showing its new B25E and B30E articulated dump trucks, all of which are equipped with the latest Allison 3000 Series fully automatic transmissions. Rigid truck transmissions from Allison will be fitted to the 1222 Terex TR40 and TR60 and Perlini DP705 machines. 2409 Iveco’s new Astra HHD9 is equipped with Allison’s 4700R transmission, which replaces the former HHD8 unit.
Bell has introduced a 4x4 version of its B30D articulated dump truck (ADT). The machine has the front chassis, cab and engine of the standard 6x6 but comes with a shortened rear chassis and a single axle. According to Neville Paynter, managing director of Bell UK, the machine’s short wheelbase reduces the turning circle by around 25%, making it ideal for use in underground mining and on narrow benches.
Bell Equipment is now introducing its novel E-series generation of haulers at Conexpo. The Bell E-series includes the smaller B25E and B30E models, which retain the firm’s high power to weight-ratios, as well as featuring advanced engine and drivetrain characteristics. These trucks are also said to set new standards in safety, driver comfort and truck management.
Scania will be showing both Euro 6 engines for its on-highway truck range and Stage IIB/Tier 4 Final powerplants for off-highway use. The company will use both exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to meet the coming regulations, as with its current Stage IIIB solution. This means the fitting of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) but no requirement for a DPF.
