The Moroccan Government is planning to increase its investment in infrastructure. Rural road and highway development projects are being planned and by 2015 the Moroccan Government wants the new network to extend to 15,000km.

The Moroccan Government is planning to increase its investment in infrastructure. Rural road and highway development projects are being planned and by 2015 the Moroccan Government wants the new network to extend to 15,000km. The country's highway network is now linked with neighbouring Algeria, forming part of a new grid of roads right across North Africa.

    The Moroccan Government is increasing its investment in roads and highways by 21% from last year. The country intends to spend US$6.32 billion on improving the road network. A further $14.5 billion is expected from private sources and other funding bodies. Work on the El Jadida-Safi highway project will commence in 2012 and is expected to cost $497million.     The Indian Government has granted approvals for 32 highway construction projects during the 2009-2010 financial year. These routes have a total length of 3,600km but this falls below the targeted 126 projects stretching for a total of 11,928km in total for this time period. For the 2010-2011 financial year, the plan is to build highways totalling in excess of 15,000km.
