Albania tackles highway costs

The Albanian Government has reduced its estimate for the cost of the new road link between capital Tirana and Elbasan. This $110 million reduction sees the project now costing an expected $290 million, instead of the $400 million originally forecast.

The Albanian Government has reduced its estimate for the cost of the new road link between capital Tirana and Elbasan. This $110 million reduction sees the project now costing an expected $290 million, instead of the $400 million originally forecast. The highway is being financed jointly by Albania and the 4216 Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

    In Uganda planning is underway for the upgrade of the Kampala-Jinja route. Preparations are being made for a new tolled highway connecting with capital Kampala. The upgrade will see the route being widened with four lanes for much of the length, six lanes on the approach to Kampala and up to eight lanes where vehicle densities will be heaviest to carry the capital’s traffic. The construction work is expected to cost some US$74 million and the new link will connect with the existing Kampala-Entebbe highway.

    A series of major road transport projects are moving ahead in Colombia, with the country’s national infrastructure agency (ANI), handling most of the deals. In the country’s capital, Bogota, design work is now complete on the Calle 13 and Accesos Norte II road projects.
