A new construction equipment show for the emerging markets surfaced today when 7305 Conexpo Latin America was launched by the Milwaukee-based 1100 Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

The trade body said the show was designed to “offer expanded opportunities to connect to markets in Central and South America”.

The surprise new event will take place from 21-24 October 2015 in Santiago, Chile. AEM president Dennis Slater has signed a letter of co-operation with the Chilean Chamber of Construction president Daniel Hurtado and CONEXPO Latin America will be co-located with the chamber’s EDIFICA show.

For the time being, CONEXPO Latin America will start off as an annual event. However, the exact timing of future events and the question of whether or not the new show will rotate with other construction-related shows is still “under study”, AEM spokeswoman Megan Tanel told today’s bauma press conference.
One decision that appears to have been made, though, is that “the show will rotate between the northern and southern regions of Latin America to offer buyers from all regions the opportunity to attend,” AEM said.

“CONEXPO Latin America will be fully owned and produced by AEM,” Tanel added, “and it will have its own management committee.” And she was very clear that the new event is being launched at the behest of the association’s membership.

For instance, 359 Volvo CE marketing and sales support director Massami Murakami said that his company has encouraged the move because it is “looking forward to CONEXPO Latin America as we see a lot of growth in that market over the next years and we still don’t have a show with wide coverage in the Hispanic countries. This show aligns with our strategic direction in Latin America to increase our presence there.”

Also, AEM used the same bauma conference to announce that bC India, a joint venture show organised in collaboration with bauma, is moving from Mumbai to Delhi, and it unveiled the structure behind its forthcoming Africa show in Johannesburg.

AEM and bauma are “founding a new joint venture in South Africa called bC Expo South Africa”. The first show is due take place in Johannesburg in September 2013.

For Eugen Egetenmeir, managing director of 3995 Messe München, the “collaboration will give bauma Africa added potential. Our colleagues at AEM have been supportive and we are very pleased that this spirit of cooperation is reflected by the fact that our two companies have founded this joint venture. I am sure that this will allow us to recruit even more exhibitors from North America for the fair in Johannesburg.”
