2135 IPAF (the International Powered Access Federation) will use Bauma to take visitors through its Safety Experience, a walk-through learning experience on how to use powered access equipment safely and effectively. The outdoor stand will highlight the association’s “Spread the load” campaign promoting the correct use of spreader plates, share results and findings from its growing accident reporting database. Falls from height are still the single largest killer in the workplace, says IPAF, and powered access is a good way of solving this problem. Finally, as part of IPAF’s ongoing “Job Access” project to attract young people to the powered access industry, visitors to the stand will also be invited to take a short interactive quiz.
Hyundai Heavy Industries is showcasing a hydraulic hybrid machine at bauma. The R220-LC Hi-POSS is a 22tonne-crawler excavator with a system that allows brake energy to be used for other functions. The AggMax has found many applications ranging from the washing of limestone conglomerate material in Scotland and Austria, to construction and demolition waste recycling in England, iron ore processing in India and sand and gravel washing in Germany.
Japanese engine manufacturer Kubota will use Bauma to announce its plan to build another engine plant in Wuxi City, China for the production of vertical-shaft diesel engines. This facility has 18,000 m2 of manufacturing space and will be a fully-owned subsidiary of Kubota China Holdings Co. Production levels will reach 97,000 engines a year and operations start in 2014. Once opened, Kubota will have 6 manufacturing plants around the world for diesel engines.
