2135 IPAF (the International Powered Access Federation) will use Bauma to take visitors through its Safety Experience, a walk-through learning experience on how to use powered access equipment safely and effectively. The outdoor stand will highlight the association’s “Spread the load” campaign promoting the correct use of spreader plates, share results and findings from its growing accident reporting database. Falls from height are still the single largest killer in the workplace, says IPAF, and powered access is a good way of solving this problem. Finally, as part of IPAF’s ongoing “Job Access” project to attract young people to the powered access industry, visitors to the stand will also be invited to take a short interactive quiz.
ZF used bauma 2013 to show the next stage of development for its cPower continuously variable transmission (CVT). By combining the transmission with a hybrid module, ZF said greater operating efficiencies were available from the integration of start/stop technology and energy recovery from regenerative braking. Manitowoc Cranes and Shantui Investment intend to form a new joint venture. This will build mobile cranes in China for both domestic and export markets. The name of the joint venture will be Shantui Manitowoc Crane Company, and it will commence operations once all relevant approvals are received.
