Infrastructure works worth $151 million are being carried out in Nigeria’s Delta State, in the south of the country. The infrastructure package has been approved by the Delta State Executive Council.

The work will improve transport links for Delta North, Delta Central, and Delta South senatorial districts. Approval has been given for a new flyover at Uromi Junction in Agbor that will feature two roundabouts and cost $38.6 million to build, with the contract having been awarded to Julius Berger. There will be a new flyover at Otouwodo on the Asaba-Ughelli road, costing $29.7 million. Construction of a new dual carriageway on Sapele Road in Effurun will cost $22.9 million.

Meanwhile, Osun State, also in the south of the country, has managed to improve and upgrade over 200km of roads. Work is underway at present on several projects to turn existing routes into dual carriageways and build new flyovers at present. Projects being carried out include the Ilesa dualisation, Koe-Fia flyover, Ile-Ife flyover and LAMECO flyover.

In Jigawa State’s Sule-Tankarkar Local Government Area, Federal funding will pay for two new road links. This will be funded from the 2026 national budget.

And the Federal Government is also planning to carry out repairs to the important Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. This forms part of the route linking the capital, Abuja, with Kano in the north of the country.

In addition, five projects are being carried out in Lagos State to upgrade road connections and should be complete by the end of 2025. Improvements will be carried out to the road linking Akesan and Igando, the road from Rabiatu to Ogedengbe and the Ijegun to Ijagemo dual carriageway. Upgrades will be carried out to the road system for Ile Eja. The works are being carried out in the Alimosho Local Government Area.
