1201 IRF Geneva is renewing the long-standing collaboration with the University of Birmingham for the promotion of the senior road executives (SRE) Programme which has been delivering certified professional training for 20 years

This programme has provided continuing professional development for those working in the road sector for over 20 years, and by so doing, contributed to the dissemination of knowledge and expertise throughout the world.

Using an inter-disciplinary approach, the programme is designed to advance the understanding of the most pressing issues facing the road sector today. The SRE is a unique forum for debate and discussion with experts and fellow delegates that enables managerial and technical concepts to be easily grasped.

The programme is run by the University of Birmingham in association with the International Road Federation (IRF) Geneva and consists of four linked, three-day, intensive residential courses delivered by experts of international repute. The courses address the main building blocks which are vital for roads to be sustainable. These include establishing responsibility through regulatory and institutional reform and providing adequate, stable and continuous financing. They also include introducing appropriate enforcement, educational and traffic engineering measures to improve road safety, and applying fundamental asset management principles and appropriate technology for road maintenance.

The modules are specifically designed for senior road executives, members of roads boards, government officials dealing with the road sector, staff from international donor agencies, and consultants working in the road sector.

The SRE programme provides hands-on knowledge by looking into concrete case studies and good practices from around the world. In the words of those who have attended the programme, SRE is a unique occasion for assessing progress and defining future actions to promote better and more sustainable roads throughout the world.

Registrations for the SRE programme are now open.

Delegates registering by 6th May 2016 will benefit from free accommodation throughout the course. Delegates attending all four modules will be awarded the IRF's prestigious "Certificate in Sustainable Road Management". For more info and registration please visit IRF Geneva wensite
