The 1201 IRF Geneva is promoting its Senior Road Executives Programme. This is part of a strategy that has seen the IRF helping deliver certified professional training for the last 20 years

The 2461 Senior Road Executives Programme (SRE) provides continuing professional development for those working in the road sector. By so doing, this strategy has contributed to the dissemination of knowledge and expertise throughout the world. Using an inter-disciplinary approach, the programme is designed to advance the understanding of the most pressing issues facing the road sector today. SRE is an innovative forum for debate and discussion with experts and fellow delegates that enables managerial and technical concepts to be easily grasped.

The programme, run by the 1128 University of Birmingham in association with the International Road Federation (IRF) Geneva, consists of four linked, intensive residential courses delivered by experts of international repute. Each of these courses is run over a three day period and these address the main building-blocks which are vital for roads to be sustainable.

The key focus areas are on: establishing responsibility through regulatory and institutional reform; providing adequate, stable and continuous financing; introducing appropriate enforcement, educational and traffic engineering measures to improve road safety; applying fundamental asset management principles and appropriate technology for road maintenance.

The modules are specifically designed for senior road executives, members of roads boards, government officials dealing with the road sector, staff from international donor agencies, and consultants working in the road sector.

The SRE Programme provides hands-on knowledge by looking into concrete case studies and good practices from around the world. In the words of those who have attended the programme, SRE is a unique occasion for assessing progress and defining future actions to promote better and more sustainable roads throughout the world.

Registrations for SRE are now open. Delegates registering by 11th May 2015 will benefit from free accommodation throughout the course. Delegates attending all four modules will be awarded the IRF's prestigious "Certificate in Sustainable Road Management".
